Fred leads the firm’s personal injury defense trial group. Since joining Mills Shirley in 1980, he has gained extensive trial experience in personal injury litigation, worker’s compensation, products liability, insurance, utilities, premises, toxic tort litigation and commerical litigation.

Very active in the community and the counties in which he practices, Fred serves in various leadership positions for the Boy Scouts of America, Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church, Galveston Historical Foundation, Galveston College Foundation, Galveston Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Rotary, Salvation Army, and others. 

Fred was appointed by The University Medical Branch's President, Dr. Ben Raimer, as Chair of the President's Cabinet for the following two-year term. Formed in 1993, the President's Cabinet is a unique and distinctive organization, dedicated to helping advance the mission of UTMB. Members include alumni, faculty, staff, friends and business and community leaders.
